Hello! My name is Gabriel Watts. I'm a 2D animator and Algonquin College graduate. Ever since I was a kid I had a passion for drawing and I always knew I wanted to be an artist. As I grew up my interests expanded; I love the art of filmmaking and telling stories. I want to be a part of that process, to collaborate with other artists and create something that resonates with people.
As someone who is passionate about illustration, becoming an animator felt like the natural choice. That's why I decided to attend Algonquin College and become an animator. As I learned more I became passionate about 2D animation specifically. While I enjoy 3D animation and would like to pratice it more, 2D animation is my focus.
Movies and shows like How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Arcane, Bambi, Wolf Walkers and Princess Mononoke helped shape who I am as an artist and as a person. I gravitate towards stories with fantastical settings, but the most important part is thought provoking storytelling. I want my animations to give characters personality and emotion, to help them connect with the audience. My goal is to be a piece of the puzzle that makes a production visually and emotionally evocative.
